On Tuesday morning, just after 4 am, the building assignment was dispatched for the working building fire on 900blk. of 7th ave. The fire was discovered by the police while out on patrol. Rescue 48 responded and arrived quickly to confirm the police report and secured a water supply using the hydrant out front. They reported that it appeared to be a basement fire and could have entrapment due to the house being locked upon arrival. Engine 8 arrived and pulled the green 300ft line to attack the fire. Crews from 48 and 8 made entry. Deputy Chief Brosnan had Prospect Park Command. The hose team from Prospect Park made its way to the basement and extinguished the fire, while the crew from TInicum conducted a primary search, which was negative. Crews from Norwood and Ridley Park tossed ladders, and vented the roof. Holmes Fire company had the RIT duties. All visible fire was knocked prior to the first 10 minutes and the fire was placed under control at the 20 minute mark.
